त॑ं श्रुव्वा भृशसंतप्तं देवराजो बृहस्पतिम् | अधिगम्यामरवृत: प्रोवाचेदं वचस्तदा
taṁ śrutvā bhṛśa-santaptaṁ devarājo bṛhaspatim | adhigamyāmaravṛtaḥ provācedaṁ vacas tadā ||
因听闻天神之师布里哈斯帕提（Bṛhaspati）忧苦至深，天帝因陀罗（Indra）便在众不死者簇拥之下前往探视，继而开口说道如下之言。此一场景昭示君主之责：当贤明谋臣遭逢痛苦、世间起乱或哀恸生时，当亲往慰问，并以谦恭之心求取箴言。
