Yudhiṣṭhira’s Procession, Encampment (Niveśa), and Auspicious Timing for Ritual Action
वैशम्पायन उवाच श्रुत्वा द्वैयायनवचो धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिर: । भ्रातृ्न् सर्वान् समानाय्य काले वचनमनब्रवीत्
vaiśampāyana uvāca
śrutvā dvaipāyanavaco dharmarājo yudhiṣṭhiraḥ |
bhrātṝn sarvān samānāyya kāle vacanam abravīt ||
毗湿摩波耶那曰:法王由提施提罗闻岛生(毗耶娑)之言,遂召集诸弟齐至;及其时机适当,乃对众人发言。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Right action is grounded in dharma through (1) listening to authoritative, wise counsel (here, Vyāsa), (2) assembling all responsible stakeholders (the brothers), and (3) speaking and acting at the proper time (kāla), not impulsively.
After hearing Vyāsa’s words, Yudhiṣṭhira gathers all his brothers and then delivers a timely address to them, preparing the next step in the unfolding events of the Aśvamedhika Parva.
