अध्याय ९ — धृतराष्ट्रस्य युधिष्ठिरं प्रति राजनित्युपदेशः

न तद् दुर्योधनकृतं न च तद् भवता कृतम्
na tad duryodhana-kṛtaṃ na ca tad bhavatā kṛtam
“那件事既非兜利约陀那所为，亦非你所为。”毗舍摩波耶那由此将此事置于个人意志之外：它不只是某人的作为，而更像是超越个体责咎的力量所促成——引人于道义上稍作停顿，反思责任、命运，以及大战之后的余波。
