Educational Q&A

Dharma is expressed through propriety and humility: even a righteous king acts with restraint, honoring others in the correct manner and seeking an elder’s consent, showing that authority is guided by respect and ethical procedure.

In the forest-ascetic setting of the Āśramavāsika episode, Yudhiṣṭhira respectfully honors the people present (or those to be received) and does so only after obtaining Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s approval, reflecting deference to the senior Kuru elder.
