Respect for legitimate authority and elders is presented as a dharmic duty: honoring Dhṛtarāṣṭra and following his directives is treated as loyalty and goodwill, while deliberate opposition is framed as hostility that must be checked for the sake of order.
In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, Yudhiṣṭhira sets a clear policy for his brothers and ministers: Dhṛtarāṣṭra is to be regarded as venerable, and those who comply with his instructions are allies, whereas those who defy him are to be considered enemies and restrained.
