Mataṅga–Śakra Dialogue on Tapas, Status, and Moral Qualities
nāra-paṇyaiḥ neṣṭa-viṣayair na sutair na dhanāgamaiḥ | tathā prasādo bhavati gaṅgāṃ vīkṣya yathā bhavet ||
The verse teaches that the deepest contentment (prasāda) is not produced by worldly attainments—pleasures, family pride, or wealth—but is more powerfully awakened by sacred vision and devotion, exemplified by seeing the Gaṅgā.
A Siddha is instructing the listener by contrasting ordinary sources of happiness with the superior spiritual joy associated with the darśana (beholding) of the Gaṅgā, emphasizing the ethical and devotional value of sacred encounter over material gain.
