Educational Q&A

Even extreme suffering and impending ruin can be alleviated through sacred contact—here, the darśana of Gaṅgā—because such vision awakens prīti (uplifting joy) that removes the weight of misfortune and restores inner strength.

A Siddha describes the effect of seeing Gaṅgā: a person tormented by vyasanas and close to death experiences immediate joy upon her sight, and that joy is said to pull away his afflictions and the pain born from them.
