एवं हि वर्तमाने<हं त्वयि वत्स्यामि पार्थिव । वारिता विप्रियं चोक्ता त्यजेयं त्वामसंशयम्,'पृथ्वीपते! ऐसा बर्ताव करनेपर ही मैं आपके समीप रहूँगी। यदि आपने कभी मुझे किसी कार्यसे रोका या अप्रिय वचन कहा तो मैं निश्चय ही आपका साथ छोड़ दूँगी'
evaṃ hi vartamāne ’haṃ tvayi vatsyāmi pārthiva | vāritā vipriyaṃ cokta tyajeyaṃ tvām asaṃśayam ||
“大王,唯有你如此行事,我才愿与你同住。若你有朝一日阻我做任何事,或对我说一句令我不悦的话,我必定毫不迟疑地离你而去。”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights ethical restraint in relationships: harsh speech and controlling prohibition can rupture trust. It frames companionship as conditional upon respectful conduct and self-control, especially for a ruler whose words carry power.
A woman sets explicit conditions for living with the king: she will remain only so long as he does not forbid her actions or address her with unpleasant words; otherwise she will leave him without hesitation.
