Yayāti–Indra Dialogue and Aṣṭaka’s Inquiry
अनुवदव्राज सम्भ्रान्त: पृष्ठतः सान्त्वयन् नृपः । न्यवर्तत न चैव सम क्रोधसंरक्तलोचना,वे व्याकुल हो देवयानीको समझाते हुए उसके पीछे-पीछे गये, किंतु वह नहीं लौटी। उसकी आँखें क्रोधसे लाल हो रही थीं
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: anuvadavrāja sambhrāntaḥ pṛṣṭhataḥ sāntvayan nṛpaḥ | nyāvartata na caiva sā krodha-saṃrakta-locanā ||
毗舍波耶那说道：国王惊惶不安，从后追随，以和缓之言相劝；然而她全然不回头，双目因愤怒而赤红。

Anger, once inflamed, can block even well-intended conciliation; ethical restoration of harmony requires not only the offender’s effort but also the offended person’s willingness to be pacified. The verse also reflects a ruler’s responsibility to attempt reconciliation, even when it may not succeed.
The king hurried after the woman, trying to soothe her with conciliatory words from behind, but she refused to turn back; her eyes were red with anger, indicating her firm resolve not to be appeased at that moment.
