Adhyāya 71: Kaca and the Saṃjīvanī-vidyā
Devayānī–Śukra Episode
आसनेनार्चयित्वा च पाद्येनाघ्येंण चैव हि | पप्रच्छानामयं राजन् कुशलं च नराधिपम्,महाराज! फिर आसन, पाद्य और अर्घ्य अर्पण करके उनका समादर करनेके पश्चात् उसने राजासे पूछा--“आपका शरीर नीरोग है न? घरपर कुशल तो है?”
āsanenārcayitvā ca pādyenārghyeṇa caiva hi | papracchānāmayaṃ rājan kuśalaṃ ca narādhipam ||
她先以座席礼敬,又依礼奉上洗足之水与阿尔伽供水,随后问那位君王道:“大王啊,您可安康无恙?人中之主啊,家中一切可都平安顺遂?”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores dharmic hospitality: one should honor a guest with proper offerings (seat, pādya, arghya) and then inquire sincerely about health and welfare—showing respect, care, and social responsibility.
After formally receiving an honored visitor according to custom, the host addresses the king respectfully and asks whether he is healthy and whether everything is well in his household/realm.
