Śakuntalā’s Satya-Discourse and the Recognition of Bharata (शकुन्तला–सत्योपदेशः; भरतप्रतिग्रहः)
तुष्ठवुः पुष्पवृष्टी क्ष ससृजुस्तस्य मूर्थनि । तत्र तत्र च विप्रेन्द्रै: स््तूयमान: समन््ततः,ऐसी बातें करती हुई वे स्त्रियाँ बड़े प्रेमसे महाराज दुष्यन्तकी स्तुति करतीं और उनके मस्तकपर फूलोंकी वर्षा करती थीं। यत्र-तत्र खड़े हुए श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मण सब ओर उनकी स्तुति- प्रशंसा करते थे
tuṣṭuvuḥ puṣpavṛṣṭīś ca sasṛjus tasya mūrdhani | tatra tatra ca viprendrāḥ stūyamānaḥ samantataḥ ||
她们赞颂他,并向他头上洒下花雨。又在各处,四周的显贵婆罗门仍不断称扬他——一派公开颂赞的氛围,将国王的行止衬托为配受尊荣、为众所许。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Public honor—praise by respected Brahmins and symbolic offerings like a shower of flowers—functions as a social marker that a ruler’s conduct aligns with dharma and is deemed worthy by the community’s moral authorities.
Women praise the king and shower flowers on his head, while eminent Brahmins standing in different places also extol him from all sides, creating a scene of widespread celebration and approval.
