क्रोधवर्धन इत्येवं यस्त्वन्य: परिकीर्तित: । दण्डधार इति ख्यात: सो5भवन्मनुजर्षभ:,क्रोधवर्धन नामक जो दूसरा दैत्य कहा गया है, वह मनुष्योंमें श्रेष्ठ दण्डधार नामसे विख्यात हुआ
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
krodhavardhana ityevaṁ yastvanyaḥ parikīrtitaḥ |
daṇḍadhāra iti khyātaḥ so 'bhavan manujarṣabhaḥ ||
毗湿摩波耶那说:另一个被称为“克罗陀伐尔陀那”(Krodhavardhana,“增怒者”)的,转生人间后以“檀陀陀罗”(Daṇḍadhāra,“执杖者”)之名闻名于世,堪称人中雄牛。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse juxtaposes a name rooted in anger (Krodhavardhana) with a later human identity tied to discipline and punishment (Daṇḍadhāra), hinting that uncontrolled wrath can transform into harshness, while rightful authority must be guided by dharma rather than mere anger.
Vaiśampāyana continues a genealogical/identificatory account: a being earlier known as Krodhavardhana is said to have become a human famed as Daṇḍadhāra, described as an outstanding man.
