阇那美阇耶说道:“(请为我讲述)诸天与达那婆,乾闼婆、蛇类与罗刹;狮、虎及诸兽;并那伽与群鸟。”

The verse initiates a broad inquiry into the ordered diversity of beings. Ethically, it points to the Mahābhārata’s view that the world’s events arise from an interconnected cosmic order, where different classes of beings have roles and consequences within dharma.
King Janamejaya begins questioning the sage-narrator about various categories of beings—gods, demons, celestial musicians, serpents, rākṣasas, beasts, and birds—setting up the chapter’s survey of their origins/manifestations (often described as partial embodiments of divine or demonic powers).
