Synopsis of the Pāṇḍava–Kaurava Estrangement
नृगस्य यज्ञस्त्वजमीढस्य चासीदू यथा यज्ञो दाशरथेश्ष राज्ञ: | तथा यज्ञोड्यं तव भारताग्रय पारिक्षित स्वस्ति नोअस्तु प्रियेभ्य:,परीक्षितकुमार! राजा नृग, राजा अजमीढ़ और महाराज दशरथनन्दन श्रीरामचन्द्रजीने जिस प्रकार यज्ञ किया था, वैसा ही तुम्हारा यह यज्ञ भी है। हमारे प्रियजनोंका कल्याण हो
nṛgasya yajñas tv ajamīḍhasya cāsīd yathā yajño dāśarathes tu rājyāḥ | tathā yajño ’yaṃ tava bhāratāgrya pārīkṣita svasti no ’stu priyebhyaḥ pārīkṣitakumāra ||
阿斯提迦说道:“正如昔日尼利伽王与阿阇弥陀王所行的著名祭祀,又如出自达沙罗陀的王者罗摩之祭曾受颂扬一般,婆罗多族中最卓越者啊,帕利克希特的后裔帕利克希特啊,你这场祭祀亦复如是。愿安康吉祥降临于我们所珍爱之人,帕利克希特王子啊。”
आस्तीक उवाच
The verse affirms the ethical ideal that royal power is legitimized through dharmic action—here, the proper performance of yajña—while concluding with a benediction (svasti) that extends welfare beyond the patron to the wider community of ‘dear ones’.
Āstīka praises the ongoing sacrifice of Prince Pārīkṣita by comparing it to famous sacrifices performed by exemplary kings (Nṛga, Ajamīḍha, and the Daśaratha-born Rāma), and then pronounces an auspicious blessing for the well-being of those connected to them.
