evaṁ stutaḥ suparṇas tu devaiḥ sarṣigaṇais tadā | tejasaḥ pratisaṁhāram ātmanaḥ sa cakāra ha ||
当时诸天与众仙人如此称颂他,苏帕尔那(迦楼罗)便收敛并克制了自身炽烈的威光——在恭敬的赞颂与正者的在场之前,显出自制之德。
शौनक उवाच
Power (tejas) is not merely to be displayed; it is to be governed. Garuḍa’s withdrawal of his radiance after being praised by devas and ṛṣis highlights dharmic restraint—responding to reverence with self-mastery rather than intimidation.
Śaunaka reports that when Garuḍa (Suparṇa) was eulogized by the gods along with the seers, he then drew in his own blazing energy, calming the situation and moderating his formidable presence.
