समन्तपञ्चक-आख्यानम् तथा अक्षौहिणी-प्रमाणनिर्णयः

ज्ञेय शतसहस््रं तु सहस्नाणि नवैव तु । नराणामपि पजञ्चाशच्छतानि त्रीणि चानघा:,निष्पाप ब्राह्मणो! एक अक्षौहिणीमें पैदल मनुष्योंकी संख्या एक लाख नौ हजार तीन सौ पचास (१,०९,३५०) जाननी चाहिये

jñeyaṃ śatasahasraṃ tu sahasrāṇi navaiva tu | narāṇām api pañcāśacchatāni trīṇi cānaghā ||

“当知:步卒之数为十万,再加九千,又添三百五十人,汝无垢者。”此处说者是在规定一支阿叉乌希尼中步兵的标准数目,使军旅之规模可按法度衡量、可据数申明;战争若不得已而行,也被置于规制与责任之中,而非无边的暴烈。
