Samantapañcaka Narrative and the Measure of an Akṣauhiṇī

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights prudent action rooted in reliable sources: the Pāṇḍavas act after hearing credible news from a brāhmaṇa and under Vyāsa’s guidance, implying that major life decisions should be aligned with dharma and wise counsel rather than mere excitement.

The text transitions to the story of Draupadī and Dhṛṣṭadyumna’s birth; after receiving this information and Vyāsa’s prompting, the Pāṇḍavas travel to Pañcāla to attend the svayaṃvara with the intention of winning Draupadī.
