Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dāna (generous giving) as a royal and social duty: after a marriage alliance, a king honors the bond through fitting gifts, reflecting responsibility, gratitude, and the maintenance of righteous social order (dharma).

After the wedding is completed, Drupada formally bestows bridal gifts upon the Pāṇḍavas—substantial wealth and, specifically, one hundred richly ornamented chariots, each drawn by four horses.
