Aurva’s Containment of the Wrath-Fire
स सोममति कान्तत्वादादित्यमति तेजसा । बभूव नृपति: श्रीमान् सुहृदां दुर्ददामपि,वे अपनी कमनीय कान्तिसे चन्द्रमाको और तेजसे सूर्यदेवको भी तिरस्कृत करते थे। राजा संवरण मित्रों तथा शत्रुओंकी मण्डलीमें भी अपनी दिव्य शोभासे प्रकाशित होते थे
sa somamati kāntatvād ādityamati tejasā | babhūva nṛpatiḥ śrīmān suhṛdāṁ durdadām api ||
以其可爱之姿,他似乎胜过明月;以其炽盛之威光,他又似乎凌驾烈日。光荣的萨ṃ瓦罗那王在友与敌的众人之间同样放射神圣的辉耀,灿然夺目,令人难以直视。
गन्धर्व उवाच
Excellence in a ruler is marked by both kānti (grace/beauty) and tejas (radiant power). Such qualities earn recognition even among opponents, suggesting that genuine merit transcends faction and compels respect.
A Gandharva praises the king’s extraordinary radiance, comparing his beauty to the Moon and his brilliance to the Sun, emphasizing how he stands out among assemblies of allies and adversaries.
