मन्दर-समुद्रमन्थन-वर्णनम् / Description of the Churning of the Ocean with Mount Mandara
एष च त्वां सुतो मातर्दासीत्वान्मोचयिष्यति । यद्येनमपि मातस्त्वं मामिवाण्डविभेदनात्
eṣa ca tvāṃ suto mātardāsītvān mocayiṣyati | yadyenam api mātastvaṃ mām ivāṇḍavibhedanāt
“而这个儿子啊,母亲,他也将把你从奴役之境中解救出来。若你也能饶恕他——如同你饶恕了我——不让那卵被劈裂(破开)……”
शौनक उवाच
The verse highlights an ethical appeal grounded in compassion and restraint: sparing another from harm can lead to future liberation and the easing of bondage. Mercy shown now is presented as a cause for later freedom and well-being.
The speaker addresses a mother, stating that a particular son will free her from servitude, and requests that she spare him as she spared the speaker—specifically, by not breaking open the egg (aṇḍa), implying a prior act of restraint that preserved life.
