वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical tension between desire and restraint: even in a hermitage, temptation may arise, and dharma is tested through self-control and right conduct.
A young woman goes to Śaradvat’s pleasant hermitage and attempts to allure Gautama, who is described as carrying bow and arrows, setting up a moral and narrative conflict around temptation.
