The verse foregrounds dharma as timely responsibility: after death, one must promptly perform the necessary rites and obligations for the departed. It also reflects the ideal of anuvratā/pativratā—steadfast commitment to one’s chosen vow and relational duty.
After Pāṇḍu’s death, Mādrī—described as devoted and vow-following—has departed with him to ‘patiloka.’ The speaker then instructs that the appropriate subsequent duties/rites for both of them should now be carried out without delay.
