Adhyāya 125: Raṅga-pradarśana — Arjuna’s Entry and Astric Demonstration (रङ्गप्रदर्शनम्)
तत एनां बलादू राजा निजग्राह रहो गताम् । वार्यमाणस्तया देव्या विस्फुरन्त्या यथाबलम्,अतः एकान्तमें मिली हुई माद्रीको महाराज पाण्डुने बलपूर्वक पकड़ लिया। देवी माद्री राजाकी पकड़से छूटनेके लिये यथाशक्ति चेष्टा करती हुई उन्हें बार-बार रोक रही थी
tata enāṃ balādū rājā nijagrāha raho gatām | vāryamāṇas tayā devyā visphurantyā yathābalam ||
于是国王在幽僻之处见她独处,便以强力攫住她。那位高贵的女子竭尽全力挣脱,屡次阻止并抗议于他。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical failure that occurs when power and desire override restraint and consent. By explicitly depicting the woman’s resistance, the narrative signals adharma and foreshadows harmful consequences that arise from coercive action, even when committed by a king.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that King Pāṇḍu encounters Mādrī alone in a secluded place and forcibly seizes her. Mādrī struggles to escape and repeatedly tries to stop him, resisting with all her strength.
