The verse presents the ideal of righteous kingship: true sovereignty is grounded in dharma and truthfulness, supported by personal radiance (tejas) and exemplary conduct (vṛtta). Fame is portrayed as the natural outcome of virtue rather than its goal.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana describes (as a prediction/commendation) the qualities and future renown of Pāṇḍu’s first son, Yudhiṣṭhira—foretelling him as a powerful, truth-speaking ruler celebrated across the three worlds for his moral character.
