Adhyāya 123 — Droṇa’s Pedagogy: Arjuna’s Preeminence, Ekalavya’s Self-Training, and the Bhāsa-Lakṣya Trial
(पाण्डुरुवाच एवमेतद् धर्मशास्त्रं यथा वदसि तत् तथा ।) पाण्डुने कहा--प्रिये! वास्तवमें धर्मशास्त्रका ऐसा ही मत है। तुम जो कुछ कहती हो, वह ठीक है। इति श्रीमहाभारते आदिपर्वणि सम्भवपर्वणि पाण्डवोत्पत्तौ द्वाविशत्यधिकशततमो<ध्याय:
pāṇḍur uvāca—evam etad dharmaśāstraṃ yathā vadasi tat tathā |
般度说道:“是的——《法论》(Dharmaśāstra)的教诲确如你所言。你所说的,确是正确的。”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
That ethical and social conduct should align with Dharmaśāstra—recognized normative tradition—and that a claim is validated by its conformity to śāstric dharma.
In the context of the Pāṇḍavas’ birth narrative, Pāṇḍu responds to his wife’s reasoning by affirming that her statement matches Dharmaśāstra and is therefore correct.
