वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse frames progeny—specifically virtuous sons—as a key aim within gṛhastha-dharma (householder life), presenting offspring as a means to attain a valued religious-social ‘state’ associated with being a parent.
In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, a man addresses a woman with the epithet pṛthuśroṇī, urging her to produce virtuous sons, expressing that through her he hopes to attain the condition and merit associated with having offspring.
