Suta Goswami (narrating traditional Shiva-puja observances to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It prescribes a specific Pūrṇimā-centered vrata and abhiṣeka—bathing Rudra with ghṛta and worshipping by rule—showing that disciplined puja (vidhi) and offering (upacāra) are central means for approaching the Linga as Pati.
By naming Him Rudra and Mahādeva and making Him the direct recipient of purifying abhiṣeka and complete worship, the verse presents Shiva as the supreme Pati who accepts ritual devotion and grants inner purification that weakens the paśu’s bondage (pāśa).
A vrata of bhūmi-śayyā (sleeping on the ground) combined with Pūrṇimā abhiṣeka (snāna/abhisheka with ghṛta) and vidhi-pūrvaka sampūjā—an observance aligned with Pāśupata-oriented discipline and devotional purification.
