FAQs

Indirectly, it supports Linga-Purana’s Shaiva transmission: holy kings (puṇyaśloka) become worthy subjects of Purāṇic recitation, sustaining the dharmic culture in which Shiva’s Linga, rites, and teachings are preserved and propagated.

By emphasizing “puṇyaśloka” (sanctifying praise), the verse reflects a Shaiva Purāṇic principle: sacred speech and remembrance purify the pashu (bound soul) and orient it toward Pati (Shiva), even when the immediate topic is genealogy.

The practice implied is śravaṇa–kīrtana (listening and recitation) of Purāṇic dharma; in Shaiva framing, such disciplined remembrance supports purification from pāśa (bondage) and prepares one for Shiva-pūjā and higher Pāśupata-oriented sādhanā.
