Though not a direct Linga-puja instruction, it reinforces a Purāṇic theme: worldly supports are fragile, while true refuge is Pati (Śiva). Such lineage-and-fate narratives prepare the mind for devotion and surrender that culminate in Linga worship.
Implicitly, it contrasts transient, fate-bound life (pāśa-bound pashu) with the need for an ultimate protector. In Shaiva Siddhānta terms, only Pati is unwavering; worldly relations and strength cannot finally shield the soul from karmic outcomes.
No explicit rite is described; the takeaway aligns with Pāśupata discipline—vairāgya (dispassion) and turning from dependence on external aids toward devotion and inner reliance on Śiva as the liberating Lord.
