Cosmic Abodes of Luminaries and the Shaiva Order of Time

毗婆斯梵——千光之日——其太阳界为火性所成。然希摩安舒(月)之住处,忆念为水生之性,通体皎白。
Suta Goswami (narrating the Linga Purana to the sages at Naimisharanya)
It frames the cosmos as structured by elemental tattvas—fire and water—supporting the Shaiva understanding that all realms function under Pati (Shiva) and are sanctified when offered back through Linga-puja.
By distinguishing fiery and watery abodes, the verse implies Shiva-tattva as the transcendent governor of all elemental domains—Pati who orders tattvas while remaining beyond their limitations.
Elemental contemplation (tattva-dhyana) is suggested: meditating on agni and ap as cosmic principles and offering corresponding upacharas (lamp for agni, water/abhisheka for ap) in Shiva-Linga worship.
