Veṅkaṭācala Māhātmya: Bhakti-Lakṣaṇa, Nārasiṁha-tīrtha, and the Secret Darśana-Vidhi of Śrīnivāsa
tatrāpi viṣṇornṛhare sutattvaṃ sudurlabhaṃ suṣṭhu yātrā tathaiva / yasyāṃ yātrāyāṃ yatra kutrāpi deśe hareḥ kathā vartate daityavaryāḥ
Lord Vishnu (in discourse to Garuda)
Concept: Hari-kathā and understanding of Nṛsiṃha-tattva are rare; pilgrimage is truly ‘excellent’ where divine discourse is present.
Vedantic Theme: Satsaṅga/śravaṇa as a primary purifier; nāma-kathā as a means to inner transformation.
Application: Seek communities and spaces where sincere spiritual discourse occurs; treat regular śravaṇa/kīrtana as ‘daily pilgrimage’.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Type: tirtha
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.24.64 (worship Nṛsiṃha; rare human birth); Garuda Purana 3.24.66 (Hari abides; Nṛsiṃha pervades)
This verse elevates any place to the level of a true pilgrimage-site when Hari’s sacred stories are actively recited and heard there, emphasizing devotion and right understanding over mere geography.
A yātrā is called ‘suṣṭhu’ (truly excellent) when it contains Hari-kathā—meaning spiritual discourse centered on Viṣṇu—regardless of the country or region.
Prioritize satsang, scriptural reading, and Viṣṇu-centered discourse wherever you live; a home, temple, or community gathering becomes spiritually potent when Hari-kathā is sincerely practiced.
