经中宣示:此原理较摩诃特之理大五倍。由此当知,罗阇斯(rajas)又为其二倍;因为罗阇斯被忆念为遮蔽之力(āvaraṇa),能扰动而覆蔽。
Lord Vishnu (speaking to Garuda/Vainateya)
Concept: Rajas as an obscuring covering, described via proportional magnitudes relative to Mahat and prior layers.
Vedantic Theme: Guṇa-dynamics: rajas binds through projection and agitation (vikṣepa) while still functioning as a veil to higher knowledge.
Application: Observe rajasic agitation (compulsion, overactivity) as a cognitive veil; apply breath regulation, disciplined action, and study to restore clarity.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta

This verse highlights rajas as an āvaraṇa—an obscuring or veiling factor—indicating how passionate activity can cover clear discernment and bind awareness to worldly movement.
By describing rajas as a veiling power relative to cosmic principles like Mahat, the verse implies that inner obscuration (guṇic conditioning) is a key reason the jīva fails to perceive its true nature and remains in saṃsāra.
Reduce rājasic excess—restlessness, impulsive desire, agitation—through disciplined conduct, ethical restraint, and steady practice, so clarity (sattva) can increase and judgment becomes less clouded.
