āragvadhābhayāmustātiktāgranthikanirmitaḥ / kaṣāyaḥ pācanaḥ sāme saśūle ca jvarehitaḥ
Lord Vishnu (teaching Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Dosha: Mixed
Concept: Appropriate formulation (yukti) matched to disease state (sāma jvara with pain) yields benefit; discernment in treatment.
Vedantic Theme: Pragmatic sattva: reducing duḥkha supports clarity for dharma and contemplation.
Application: Prepare a digestive decoction (kaṣāya) of āragvadha, abhayā, mustā, tiktā, and granthikā; administer in irregular/āma-associated fevers, even with pain.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Type: vaidya clinic/household
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.170 (jvara remedies; kaṣāya/pācana sequence)
The verse highlights that when fever is linked with āma (undigested/toxic residue), a digestive (pācana) decoction is preferred to correct digestion rather than only suppress symptoms.
This verse is from a practical, Ayurvedic section and does not describe afterlife travel; it focuses on bodily health as part of dharmic living and care.
It emphasizes addressing root causes (like poor digestion/āma) in illness; any herbal use should be done with qualified Ayurvedic guidance due to plant identification and dosing.
