रोहितस्तदभिज्ञाय पितु: कर्म चिकीर्षितम् । प्राणप्रेप्सुर्धनुष्पाणिररण्यं प्रत्यपद्यत ॥ १६ ॥
rohitas tad abhijñāya pituḥ karma cikīrṣitam prāṇa-prepsur dhanuṣ-pāṇir araṇyaṁ pratyapadyata
罗希多明白父亲意欲将他作为祭牲献于祭祀;为求保命,他执弓携箭,遁入森林。
Rohita understood that his father intended an act that would endanger him, so to protect his life he took his bow and fled to the forest.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī speaks this verse while narrating the history of King Hariścandra to Mahārāja Parīkṣit.
When confronted with harmful pressure—even from authority—one should seek a safe, dharmic course of action with clarity and courage, rather than blindly submitting to danger.
