Paraśurāma Avenges Jamadagni; Restoration Through Sacrifice; Viśvāmitra’s Line and Devarāta (Śunaḥśepha)
विश्वामित्रस्य चैवासन् पुत्रा एकशतं नृप । मध्यमस्तु मधुच्छन्दा मधुच्छन्दस एव ते ॥ २९ ॥
viśvāmitrasya caivāsan putrā eka-śataṁ nṛpa madhyamas tu madhucchandā madhucchandasa eva te
帕利克希特王啊,毗湿瓦密多罗有一百零一个儿子,其中居中的名为摩度遮难陀;因与他相关,其余诸子也被称为“摩度遮难陀们”。
In this connection, Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura quotes this statement from the Vedas: tasya ha viśvāmitrasyaika-śataṁ putrā āsuḥ pañcāśad eva jyāyāṁso madhucchandasaḥ pañcāśat kanīyāṁsaḥ. “Viśvāmitra had 101 sons. Fifty were older than Madhucchandā and fifty younger.”
This verse states that Viśvāmitra had one hundred sons.
Madhucchandā is identified here as the middle son among Viśvāmitra’s hundred sons, and the group is associated with the name “Madhucchandas.”
It helps students understand how Vedic knowledge, dharma, and spiritual culture were transmitted through recognized lineages and families.
