The Dynasty of Vaivasvata Manu Begins — Ilā/Sudyumna and the Birth of Purūravā
तेषां वंशं पृथग् ब्रह्मन् वंशानुचरितानि च । कीर्तयस्व महाभाग नित्यं शुश्रूषतां हि न: ॥ ४ ॥
teṣāṁ vaṁśaṁ pṛthag brahman vaṁśānucaritāni ca kīrtayasva mahā-bhāga nityaṁ śuśrūṣatāṁ hi naḥ
大福德的婆罗门啊,请你分别称述那些君王的诸支王统,并讲明各族系的事迹与特征;因为我们恒常渴望从你口中聆听此类清净圣题。
This verse shows the listener’s bhakti mood—Parīkṣit requests detailed narration because he is “always eager to hear,” highlighting śravaṇam as a primary way to serve and advance spiritually.
Parīkṣit wanted clear, organized accounts of each royal lineage and the notable deeds of their descendants, so the teachings and examples of dharma within those histories could be understood distinctly.
Cultivate a steady habit of attentive hearing—regularly listen to or study Bhagavatam narrations with eagerness, seeking clarity and continuity rather than random or distracted consumption.
