स्रष्टुकामो जगद्योनिस्तमोगुणमधिष्ठाय सूक्ष्मतन्मात्राणि भूतानि स्थूलीकर्तुं सोऽकामयत। सृष्टेः परिमितानि भूतान्येकैकं द्विधा विधाय पुनश्चतुर्धा कृत्वा स्वस्वेतरद्वितीयांशैः पञ्चधा संयोज्य पञ्चीकृतभूतैरनन्तकोटिब्रह्माण्डानि तत्तदण्डोचितगोलकस्थूलशरीराण्यसृजत्॥७॥

sraṣṭukāmo jagadyonis tamoguṇam adhiṣṭhāya sūkṣmatanmātrāṇi bhūtāni sthūlīkartuṃ so’kāmayata | sṛṣṭeḥ parimitāni bhūtāny ekaikaṃ dvidhā vidhāya punaś caturdhā kṛtvā svasvetaradvitīyāṃśaiḥ pañcadhā saṃyojya pañcīkṛtabhūtair anantakoṭibrahmāṇḍāni tattadaṇḍocitagolaksthūlaśarīrāṇy asṛjat ||7||

Translation

Muốn sáng tạo, Nguồn thai của vũ trụ nương vào guṇa tamas, khởi ý làm cho các tanmātra vi tế trở thành các đại chủng thô. Khi tạo dựng, Ngài lấy các yếu tố hữu hạn ấy, mỗi yếu tố chia làm hai, rồi lại chia thành bốn; kế đó, đem các phần thứ hai của nhau phối hợp theo năm phần (ngũ hoá), và nhờ các đại chủng đã được ngũ hoá mà tạo ra vô lượng ức brahmāṇḍa (trứng vũ trụ) cùng các thân thô an trụ trong những cõi, những cầu tương ứng với từng trứng ấy.

Academic Translation

Desiring to create, the womb (source) of the universe, resorting to the guṇa of tamas, wished to make the subtle elements (tanmātras) into gross elements. Having taken the limited (i.e., determinate) elements at creation, he divided each one into two, and again made them into four; then, combining them fivefold with the second portions of one another, he created, by means of the quintuplicated elements, innumerable crores of cosmic eggs (brahmāṇḍas) and the gross bodies situated in the spheres appropriate to each egg.
