नन्दिकेशावतारवर्णनम् (Nandikeśa Avatāra Varṇanam) — “Account of the Descent/Origin of Nandikeśvara”

अहं च विष्णुर्भगवान्द्रुहिणश्च महामुने । अयोनिजं मृत्युहीनं पुत्रं दातुं न शक्नुमः

ahaṃ ca viṣṇurbhagavāndruhiṇaśca mahāmune | ayonijaṃ mṛtyuhīnaṃ putraṃ dātuṃ na śaknumaḥ

Hỡi đại hiền giả, cả ta, lẫn đấng Bhagavān Viṣṇu, lẫn Druhiṇa (Brahmā) đều không thể ban cho một người con không do thai sinh và vượt ngoài tử vong. Ân huệ ấy vượt quá chúng ta; chỉ có Đấng Tối Thượng Śiva, Pati vượt ngoài sinh diệt, mới có thể ban điều siêu việt tạo tác.
