Account of the Pippalāda Avatāra
अथ गां सुरभिं शक्र आहूयाशु ह्यलेहयत् । अस्त्रनिर्मितये त्वाष्ट्रं निदि देश तदस्थिभिः
atha gāṃ surabhiṃ śakra āhūyāśu hyalehayat | astranirmitaye tvāṣṭraṃ nidi deśa tadasthibhiḥ
Rồi Śakra (Indra) vội triệu Surabhī, bò thiêng của chư thiên, và khiến nàng liếm những di cốt ấy. Chính từ những xương đó, Ngài truyền cho Tvaṣṭṛ rèn đúc một vũ khí, để thần khí được tạo thành.

Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga narrative; it shifts to a deva-strategic act: using sanctified remains to enable astranirmāṇa (weapon-forging) for cosmic order.
The verse highlights how cosmic order (dharma) is upheld through divinely guided action: even material means like “bones” and “weapons” become instruments when aligned to protect righteousness under the larger sovereignty of the Divine (Śiva’s cosmic governance in the Purāṇic worldview).
Though the verse is narrative and not a direct ritual injunction, it reflects Saguna Shiva’s Purāṇic framework where devas act within a sacred cosmos—devotion to Śiva-Liṅga is understood as aligning oneself with that cosmic order, seeking Śiva’s grace so dharma prevails.
No explicit practice is prescribed in this line; a Shaiva takeaway is to maintain dharmic intention and invoke Śiva through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) before undertaking protective or duty-bound actions.
