Suta Goswami (narrating the Kailasa Samhita teachings to the sages, in an instructional ritual context)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: kavaca
It teaches that worship is not merely external offering but an ordered inner and outer sanctification—establishing a protected sacred space (āvaraṇa) so the mind becomes steady and fit to receive Shiva’s grace.
In Saguna Shiva worship (such as Linga-puja), protective arrangements like the ‘Eye’ and ‘Astra’ are parts of ritual nyāsa and avaraṇa—symbolically guarding the sanctum and the devotee’s awareness so attention remains fixed on Shiva as the indwelling Lord (Pati).
It suggests performing an āvaraṇa/nyāsa sequence: placing a central focus (the ‘Eye’) and then invoking the Astra-mantra in the directions (starting from the East) as a protective circuit before proceeding to the next stage of worship.
