Description of the Conduct and Daily Discipline of Saṃnyāsa
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Mantra:
Role: liberating
It teaches that the mature seeker, through direct inner realization of “so’ham” (identity with Śiva as the supreme Consciousness), attains experiential unity and then lives outwardly with freedom and ease, no longer bound by fear or compulsion.
Linga and saguna worship purify the mind and concentrate devotion; this verse points to the culmination where devotion ripens into direct knowledge—realizing Śiva within as one’s true Self—while still allowing a liberated life in the world.
Meditative contemplation of the mahāvākya-like bhāva “so’ham” (often supported by japa such as Om Namaḥ Śivāya), leading to steady inner absorption; the result is effortless conduct and freedom from bondage.
