Lord Shiva (Īśāna) speaking to Parvati
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Mantra: īśānaḥ sarvavidyānām (invoked as śruti-opening)
Type: rudram
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
It affirms Śiva (Īśāna) as the ultimate source and lord of all vidyā—both worldly learning and liberating knowledge—so true wisdom culminates in recognizing Pati (Śiva) as the ground of revelation and realization.
If all knowledge proceeds from Śiva, then the Liṅga—His accessible Saguna emblem—becomes a direct focus for receiving grace and right understanding; worship is not merely ritual but a means to align the mind with the Vedic truth that Śiva is the source of śruti and jñāna.
Meditate on Īśāna as the indwelling teacher while repeating a Śiva-mantra (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), cultivating humility that all insight is Śiva’s gift and directing study and contemplation toward liberation.
