The Slaying of Atikāya
कंत्रीन्पञ्चसप्तेतिसायन्राक्षसर्षभः ।।।।आददेसन्दधेचापिविचकर्षोत्ससर्ज च ।
kaṃ trīn pañca sapteti sāyān rākṣasarṣabhaḥ | ādade sandadhe cāpi vicakarṣotsasarja ca ||
Con rākṣasa kiệt xuất ấy lấy tên: một, rồi ba, rồi năm, rồi bảy; đặt lên cung, kéo căng và phóng ra.
The bull among the Rakshasas taking, one, three, five and seven arrows, fixing them to the bow stretching released.
Skill directed toward intent: the verse highlights martial competence; in Ramayana’s ethical frame, power must be governed by righteousness—mere prowess is not moral authority.
Atikāya launches a graduated volley of arrows in rapid succession.
