Tārā’s Lament over Vāli
अवस्थां पश्चिमां पश्य पितुः पुत्र सुदारुणाम्।सम्प्रसक्तस्य वैरस्य गतोऽन्तः पापकर्मणा।।
avasthāṃ paścimāṃ paśya pituḥ putra sudāruṇām | samprasaktasya vairasya gato 'ntaḥ pāpakarmaṇā ||
Này con, hãy nhìn xem tình trạng cuối cùng khủng khiếp của cha con: bị thúc đẩy bởi hận thù, người đã đi đến kết cục này do nghiệp báo.
'O son! you see the most terrific end of your father on whom enmity forced sinful deeds.
Unchecked enmity (vaira) can push a person into adharma; one must restrain hostility and act righteously to avoid ruinous consequences.
After Vāli is mortally wounded, Tārā addresses Aṅgada, urging him to look upon his father’s condition and understand the moral cause behind the tragedy.
Moral discernment and sobriety in crisis—Tārā frames grief through ethical causality, guiding Aṅgada toward mature understanding.
