Vali’s Final Counsel and the Succession Charge
तद्वालिवचनाच्छान्तः कुर्वन्युक्तमतन्द्रितः।जग्राह सोऽभ्यनुज्ञातो मालां तां चैव काञ्चनीम्।।
tad-vāli-vacanāc chāntaḥ kurvan yuktam atandritaḥ | jagrāha so 'bhyanujñāto mālāṃ tāṃ caiva kāñcanīm ||
Nhờ lời của Vāli mà lòng lắng dịu, không còn oán hờn, chàng siêng năng làm điều phải. Được Vāli cho phép, chàng nhận lấy chính vòng hoa vàng ấy.
On hearing Vali's words, Sugriva became composed with no ill-feeling. Considering it to be proper, he received with his permission the golden necklace.
Dharma is accepting rightful responsibility in an orderly, sanctioned way—without hostility—so that succession serves the common good.
Sugriva, reconciled, accepts the royal garland from the dying Vali with explicit permission.
Self-control and propriety (aucitya): acting correctly even amid grief and political change.
