Ravana reveals his true form and abducts Sita
जटायो पश्य मामद्य ह्रियमाणामनाथवत्।।3.49.39।।अनेन राक्षसेन्द्रेण करुणं पापकर्मणा।
jaṭāyo paśya mām adya hriyamāṇām anāthavat || 3.49.39 ||
anena rākṣasendreṇa karuṇaṃ pāpakarmaṇā |
Hỡi Jaṭāyu, xin hãy nhìn ta hôm nay—bị lôi đi thảm thương như kẻ không nơi nương tựa—bởi tên chúa rākṣasa này, kẻ tạo nghiệp ác.
O Jatayu, see me now being carried away by the sinful king of demons in this pitiable condition as though I am an orphan.
Protection of the helpless is a dharmic imperative; naming the act as pāpa (sinful) frames abduction as adharma and calls righteous beings to intervene.
Sītā appeals directly to Jaṭāyu as she is being carried away by Rāvaṇa.
Moral discernment and courage: Sītā publicly identifies wrongdoing and seeks dharmic protection.
