FAQs

The verse is introduced with “Śeṣa said,” indicating Śeṣa as the narrator. The setting is a dialogue scene where a king addresses Śatrughna, who is eager to hear the noble account of Raghunātha (Rāma).

It frames Rāma’s narrative (Raghunātha-kathā) as “śreṣṭhā”—excellent and spiritually valuable—and highlights the ideal listener (śuśrūṣuḥ), suggesting devotion expressed through attentive hearing (śravaṇa).

The verse implies that sincere eagerness to listen to sacred narratives is itself a virtue—cultivating humility, receptivity, and alignment with dharma through respectful attention to uplifting teachings.
