Unspecified narrator/teacher describing expiatory vows (kṛcchra) within Brahma-khaṇḍa Adhyāya 19

Concept: Extreme fasting over a fixed period functions as a recognized prāyaścitta that annihilates sin through concentrated tapas.

Application: If undertaking severe austerity, do so under guidance and with a devotional aim (prāyaścitta + prayer + ethical repair); otherwise adopt milder, sustainable restraints that still cultivate self-control.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: vira
