The Procedure for Offering Piṇḍa (Funerary Rice-balls) — Gayā-māhātmya
अमृतैः पंचभिः स्नातं पुष्पवस्त्राद्यलंकृतम् । न कुर्याद्यो गदापाणिं तस्य श्राद्धमपार्थकम् ॥ ९४ ॥
amṛtaiḥ paṃcabhiḥ snātaṃ puṣpavastrādyalaṃkṛtam | na kuryādyo gadāpāṇiṃ tasya śrāddhamapārthakam || 94 ||
Dẫu đã tắm (vật cúng/thần tượng) bằng năm thứ “cam lộ” và trang sức bằng hoa, y phục v.v., nếu không dâng nghi lễ lên Gadāpāṇi—Viṣṇu cầm chùy—thì lễ śrāddha ấy trở nên vô ích.
