The lion symbolizes fearless dharmic power that supports the Goddess’s mission. Inner courage (siṃha-bhāva) is portrayed as an active ally of righteousness.
Part of the Devi-ākhyāna (episode) within the Purāṇa; not a cosmological or dynastic enumeration.
The roaring lion represents awakened prāṇa and will-power that scatters tamas (inertia/fear) in the ‘army’ of negative tendencies.
